Phat DS Chipset vs Slim DS Chipset Repair

Well I had Phat DS, but I stripped it down to the chipset only, my LCD was broken.

So can I buy a replacement LCD/Touchpad and Shell for the LNDS and use my phat chipset?

Or do I just have to suck it up and by a new Shell/LCD/Touchpad for the phat?

Its been awhile and I only only have the chipset left. Do I need anything else?
