can som1 pls help me with my problem i have just bot 500gb hd. but my pc detect it as 135gb in windows. i am using xp home edition.

What is your computer build? Make & model, how old is the computer, what is the processor and Ram? Also, does the label on the physical drive say 500GB?

Hi,
thanks for the respond, I assmembled it myself last year. the motherboard msi intel 945gzm3+ ich7 chipset based, processor is p4 3gh,memory is 1ghz. the sticker on the hard drive state 500gb. in the cmos it see it as 500gb but when am installing xp it shows 131062 and then after inst windows it shows 125gb.

then that is what is causing the drive to show up as 137gig instead of 500gig. read this link tho for seagate it still applies to other drive manufacturers.
