Applogies if this is the wrong area,
I was in the market today and I saw a trader unlocking handsets, as a long shot I showed him my Nokia E71 which I've already been told codes are not yet available for, he said that a turbo sim will convince the phone it is still on its locked network and allow me to use my contract sim from a different network.

he showed me it working, however he wanted £40 for this device, so I left it to thing about it a bit more.

I got to wondering technically how this works? The phone obviously quizes the sim for infomation about the network its from and the turbo sim must intercept this message and lie to the phone?? Is this how it works???
Isnt the sim structure pretty well mapped out, couldnt an original sim be reprogrammed to effectively lie about its home network??
