Should I Get Crisis Core if I've Never Played FFVII?

I'll confess: I've never played FFVII. It was before my time, and I don't want to revisit it now. (It hurts my eyes.) The thing is, this is pretty much the hottest game the PSP has right now. Should I still get it, knowing nothing about the FFVII franchise? By itself, would the gameplay and the story be worth the investment if I have no knowledge of the FFVII universe?

i never played FF (until the crisis core). But, I watched the movie. I actually get the whole story, i think it is the beginning of the FF story

Yes, the game is actually worth playing and I also haven't played any FF before but the storyline in this game is good and it is told from the beginning.

Considering that Crisi Core is a prequel, you don't need to have played FFVII to make your way through it.
Although you won't get some of the characters who make appearances, and some of the references to VII.

It's an incredible game, whether you're FF player or not.

Well heres the thing, i have played, and beat final fantasy 7 many many times, and the knowledge that i have from playing that game, was nice to have when playing final fantasy crisis core. Its just cool to be able to relate to almost every situation going on in the game because i had completed final fantasy 7. BUT i will say, you dont really need to have played it to play crisis core, since crisis core is one sweet game anyways, but you will understand things 100 times better once you get to Nibelheim. well anyways, good luck playin!

before crisis core i had never played a final fantasy game but it was great and really work getting as it has different elements from other games on the psp such as the DMZ and materia. its made me look forward to agito's release on PSP :-)

Its a sweet game, but I'm not sure if you will enjoy it if you haven't played 7, probably part of the reason I liked it so much was because of my prior attachement to the game's characters and setting, so its hard to say.

I say you should go and get it. I hadn't played any of the Final Fantasy before this, but when I played it I loved it. Definitely one of the best games I ever played on my PSP.

I'm seriously suprised by the amount of people who've never played Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy VII. FFVII is my personal favorite, but Crisis Core was certainly a great addition to the series, and a fun Prequel.

Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Dissidia are still to be released.

If you haven't gotten it already, get it!!! Besides playing Mystic Quest for the SNES, I knew nothing about the Final Fantasy franshise when I played through Crisis Core. I knew some stuff about FFVII, like who Cloud and Aerith and Sephiroth were. But I never actually played the game.
Now that I've finished Crisis Core, I really want to play FFVII and watch Advent Children. FFVII Crisis Core is AWESOME!!!!!!!
