lg gsa 4163b DL problems

firstly hi all
I'm having trouble burning DL discs from my LG gsa4163b burner. When I insert blank DL disc windows autoplay reads it as a blank CD. When I try burning an image to it in nero 6, i get the error message "could not perform start of disc-at-once".

-I have tried several +R DL brands for which it is meant to handle
-I have also tried nero 5
-The computer is running a freshly reformatted Windows XP SP2
-I have tried several DL images which have been successfully burnt on other pcs
-I have updated to the latest firmware

I have searched for countless hours on and off to find a solution but this is still annoying me. It was also like this before its last reformatt. Thanks in advance for anyone who has an idea of whats wrong
