I have an old computer which I wanna upgrade for gaming and I only wanna upgrade the motherboard and processor for now and possibly the graphic card but I doubt with 220 I can get all three.

Its a elitegroup k7vmm+
xdreamer case
320 gb hard drive
dvd burner etc
9550 graphic card (really old lol)
420 watt power supply came with case (cheapo)
celeron northwood overclocked from 2.0 to 2.4 (Used to have p4 but it burned and had that on hand)
huge zalman cooler
1gb ram
socket 478

It was good in its time but i wanna upgrade the mobo cpu and possibly graphics with 220.

If you decide to upgrade your CPU, you will need a new motherboard. That's like 170 bucks right there for a E2180 and GA-EP35-DS3L. You will also need a new video card as your old one is AGP and wont work in the new board. You want at least a 8800GS, which is 80 dollars at newegg after rebates. Also you will need new Ram. 2GB of DDR2 ram is about 40 bucks. You will also need a new PSU to power your new setup. Something like a Corsair 450VX will do nicely. That is 55 at buy.com.

Thats like 385 dollars right there. Those are all required. You will need to upgrade each and every part as the old ones wont be compatible.

sorry but it was a l4vxa2 with ht support but whats the best agp card available and a good amount of ram like 2gb or 4 that matches this mobo I would do it my self but I dont know whats good or bad. Also I was looking at a p4 socket 478 3.0ghz do you think if I combine all that I would have a decent gaming rig

The best AGP card available is expensive, and doesn't perform that well. You can get a card that's more than twice as fast for the same price on PCI-E.

The P4 wont help you much. It's horribly out-dated. You're just gonna have to save up money.

Best AGP card is 3850. It will still require a new PSU. It costs 140 and performs worse than a 80 dollar 8800GS.

As for the CPU, the best socket 478 CPU made was a P4 running at 3.4Ghz.

At what resolution?

It's a bad idea to your video card and CPU. It will still be outdated and you will spend just as much.

im into call of duty crysis bioshock assasins creed fps and adventure you know? but dont worry im not going to upgrade agp and a p4.

But do you think it could actually run those games at 1024x24?
