I have a Realtek HD sound card for the Samsung Q70 and theres sound coming out with no issues.
I do a lot of recording and this is where the problems occur. In sonar and microsoft sound recorder the sound recorded (Input channel) sounds like it has an incredibly low sample rate. Ive tested the mixing desk used and it sounds perfect from the mixing desk so its to do with my sound card. I uninstalled and reinstalled updated drivers but its still the same, im pulling my hair out :-(
Any suggestions would be awesome and maybe a solution to this frustrating problem.

Are you using Line-in or Mic-in? I would have thought Line-in would offer a better sample rate.

There is only one input on this sound card and one output. It's a line-in i believe as theres already a mic inbuilt into the laptop, the annoying thing is that the output (from an mp3 for example) sounds solid and quite clear but its just the input channel...would this eliminate driver problems?

Hmm, the sound card in a standard laptop only has a microphone input, which probably won't be a particularly good channel. If you're doing professional audio work I suggest you use a Creative External USB Sound card, like the Live 24-bit I have, the sound quality with this is superfluous.

the thing is my brother has an HP laptop and the sound recording on that is pretty decent considering its 5 years old.
I was looking at external sound cards, will they be fully compatible with SONAR 4 without too much fuss??
