i have 4 different burners
samsung SH-S203b
sony/nec/optaric 7200s
liteon LH-18A1P
liteon LH-20A1S

with all four drives i get the same problem when burning.
if i leave it alone while burning it is fine. but if i try and multi task i get some of the nastiest burns ever. the buffer goes crazy,CPU useage goes hog wild.
ive tried different sata slots different sata cables and still get the same problem.

anyone with any ideas? thought???
thanks
is it the mobo?CPU?MEM? idoubt its the drives. not all 4 being bad, haven the same problems.

here is a couple scans of the disc ive been burning and getting these problems

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i196/Cincrob/morejunk.png
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i196/Cincrob/somemorejunk.png

now these 3 are the same drive same media same sata cable, but in differenet sata connectors on the board.
they start off great like the should but once i try and multi task it goes crappy this is waht i get with all my drives when doing this.

i have aGA-P35-DS3R MOBO with a E8400 CPU and crucial ballistix DDR2 800 mem.

i use the nero create disc to get these scans above. but i also use imageburn and get the same thing with it. i also use clonedvd2 and dvdfab but i have no true way of checking those programs like the first 2.

here is a link to some more scans ive posted in another thread if you want to see some more.

A short story Cincy, I failed to notice the swollen capacitors on my rigs mobo, these apparently are the cause of the constant and ever shortening run times. I was at wits end and a techie said "I was lucky the PSU didn't take out my RAM also". I wish I could qualify the diagnosis buddy, but I reckon you've removed RAM chips and checked each one, and removed burners from the circuit one by one and tested etc. Testing CPU stability with let's say sandra or similar, would be my limits here, but check out that PSU stability eh? Stranger things have happened.

I'm still waiting for a replaceament mobo, but will put back the original case PSU, just to eliminate the possibilities. I put my episode down to "believing" a shop attendants reccomendations for replaceament power supplys.

All I had to do was ask, and AD could've saved the pain. :(

All the best Cincyrob.

EDIT: Stop drinkin' so much, and if you ever find out how....lemme know yeah?

Cheers.

Ive checked all the drives 1 at a time. they are fine. Ive ran Sandra a boat load of times. CPU is well stable.have ran OCCT,Orthos,Prime95ect.. stable as can be.

i think i have found the problem...its the HDD. i was told to get another HDD and put my ISO's Rips on it and burn from there. that i need a clean path for burning.my 1 and only hdd isn't keeping up when burning and slowing down the burns so it can catch up. i have now put in a small 100gb hdd and it is working fine. burning at the requested speed and not falling on its face. buffer level still fluctuates, but that is normal

hope your mobo gets there soon and up and running. as for a PSU. i wont have anything other than a Corsair PSU ever again. modular will be my next one. the good people here pointed that out.

Sorry to post the bleedin' obvious Rob, I knew you'd done the basic "drill" but as I said previous...stranger things have happened and to get another HDD, was out of my bounds

Thanks for the well wish Rob, your very kind, but I can't help but wonder why another HDD would help out so well. I often GOT "....the path is too deep" on external HDD's and so cannot continue (what a pain in the @rse that one can be). Perhaps this is an early indication of Mobo/Drive failure? Shite I wish I knew.... LOL

EDIT: In bold "present to past" It ain't been fixed yet...
