Well I recently discovered the hardway sadly that backing up a game is really the only safe alternative for my collection of games to play and enjoy them without ruining them entirely as this damn PS2 can at any point scratch the hell out of it...

So I went online and went through various sites and came to a few hard conclusions yet still have a load of unanswered questions...

1) Swap Magic, will the same V3.6 work on both my Fat and Silver slim PS2?
2) What's the best media platform for my back-ups? I heard Taiyo Yuden works well... But any other suggestions? And -R? Or +R?
3) Will it allow me to play Japanese imports on my systems? And if there's something I need to include(I read somewhere something else was needed...) What is it exactly?
4) For the silver slim PS2 what is the best method of blocking the sensors? No tutorial really specify's it directly :S

Thanks sorry it's such a hassle >_> I can't find a forum search option...

Forum search option is practically at the top of the site.
It says 'Google Custom Search' in it.

1 - Yes
2 - Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Sony's are all good brands. I'm going to have to say -R over +R. Reason being is that I've seen people be more successful with -R, and I'm pretty sure you have to set the booktype to DVD-ROM for +R's.
3 - Yes and no
4 - Magic Keys II in theory (cause you don't have to void your warranty), but that third tool can be a real pain to get in.

Well #3 doesn't really have any details behind it.

You don't need anythign besides Swap Magic, and your import. And your case, a Japanese game.

You just put the import in like you would a backup, simple as that.
