Hey, I have a Foxconn SiS 6627MA Motherboard and it has worked for a long time, but today I installed a intel core 2 duo e8500 and instead of the usual "beep" I hear right before it starts up there is no beep after I installed the cpu. I also installed a new fan that came with the cpu, but I've made sure everything is plugged in. When I turn the computer on (with the case open) I see the fan spin up and the hard drive whir, but I don't hear the beep from the bios and the screen is black, It says no signal on the monitor. Any help would be great!
Thanks

is the e8500 compatable with your mobo? if it is, you may need to update the bios. pop in the old cpu, and update the bios, with lots of caution.

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Well, the e8500 is the same socket size 775, but I don't know how to update my bios? how would I go about doing that?
Thanks for your response though!

On the front of my motherboard instructions it says, "Supports Intel Pentium Extreme Edition, Intel PEntium D, Intel Pentium 4 processors, Celeron D

I have a Intel Core 2 Duo, so I guess this mobo doesn't support it, would I be able to update this and how, I looked on the website for drivers here but I don't know what to download. Thanks.

sadly, the e8500 C2D will not work on your mobo. you'll need something like the pentium D940.

So theres no way to update the mobo to support it... I already have the e8500 I'd rather buy a new mobo than just buy a cpu that will fit it. Is there any fairly inexpensive mobo's under $70 that can support e8500s?

if you can stretch the budget, the gigabyte EP35-DS3L is the motherboard recommended.

depending on your cpu stepping, it may or may not boot up right away. the C0 (SLAPK) will boot right away, while the E0 (SLB9K) will need a bios update.

Agreed on using that board, it's much better.

There is no way to upgrade the old board as it requires different hardware.
