Files won't transfer. Green icon text? Bitlocker?

My laptop was running Vista. A few nights ago I decided to throw XP on it. I backed up my files to an external hard drive. The laptop was wiped, and XP was installed. Now some of my files that are on the external hard drive won't transfer back to the laptop now running XP. The files that won't transfer back have file names colored green. I read up and found it probably has to do with Vista Bitlocker encrypting the files for me (thanks). I tried to go into the properties to uncheck the encryption box, but it would not work. Are my files stuck on the external hard drive?
