What crysis settings are right for me?

Hey, I wanna get crysis, but I'm in no mood to spend anymore cash on something that will run like poo.
Question 1:
How well will crysis run and on what settings with:
21" LCD (res = 1400x1050)
GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L Intel Mobo
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 (I wouldn't mind OCing)
650w coolmasters psu
2GB ram (Though I set my computer for a total of 10GB virtual mem)
ATI Radeon X1950XT GPU 512mb
Windows XP Professional SP3(I had Vista Ultimate for a year and hated it, when I installed XP again everything was 10 times faster and smoother)
Question 2:
I have a wireless n router, but only a wireless g pci card, if I get a wireless n pci card, will the online play drastically increase?

Not well it has to be said. Your CPU and Mobo are excellent, but you could do with more RAM, and your GPU is far too slow. I played the game with a similar X1900XT, and it wasn't realistic, I had to run it at 1024x768 and on medium settings for it to be playable. If you want to play Crysis, then you should consider upgrading to a Radeon HD4850, that should max it out at your resolution, no problem.

thanks, I'll keep that in mind, I wish the market for computer hardware wasn't so fast-paced, it seems like I upgrade one thing and by the time I'm done upgrading everything I have to start over again.
Sometimes I also experience a lot of lag in games that don't even push my specs at all like Guild Wars, will upgrading to a wireless-n pci card help with the lag?

Frame rate stutter is caused by your PC. Network lag (people suddenly appearing in different places etc) is typically caused solely by either your network connection or the PC of the person hosting the server (will never manifest itself on your PC if you are hosting)

i've noticed that u have 10 gb of virtual mem set up. Does virtual memory really help a computer?

Not especially, it might make things a little smoother when you run out of memory, but a far better option is to have enough in the first place.

I think I'm going to skip getting a new GPU for now because I play all my games whether they're graphically intensive or not on 1280 by 1024 resolution. I just don't like not how small everything looks on my native res.
Though virtual memory is definitely worth doing especially if you have a big harddrive, it might not be as good as buying tangible ram, but you can definitely see a difference in how the computer responds. What I just don't understand (hopefully sam can explain) is what exactly is the difference between virtual memory and RAM, when I open up the task manager and look at the bottom right it says ie. 453M/2048M when I don't configure virtual mem, but when I add like 8GB of virtual memory it says 453M/10000M, if the task manager doesn't see the difference, what is the real difference?

It's memory the system can use, but exists on the hard disk, not in RAM, so it's like having low speed RAM.

I've purchased two open-box items from newegg and both of them came with everything (accessories, manuals, box, cds) and also worked and looked brand new, so I was willing to take another chance.

they probably say that because they want you to buy it brand new. I just thought that if I bought something brand new from newegg and wanted a full refund I would return it with everything that it came with fearing they might not accept it. So i figured other people would have the same mentality and I guess they do.

Yeah, makes sense. Guilty as charged though, I sent back a GPU to the shop missing one of the things it came with (crossfire bridge, I lost it, found it a month later), and no issues.

haha nice, you could really cut out the middle man like ebay if you need a hard to find part for something. Seems like they don't mind if you buy something keep whatever u need and just send the barebone back.
