Epson R280 wastes a lot of ink with head cleaning!

Does anyone know how to stop this from happening. I lost almost half my ink due to this.

not sure about the r280 but my cx7800 does an extensive head clean only if it sits for a long time not used.if i print often it uses next to nothing on the clean.does your user manual say anything on the subject?

sorry,forgot to ask.how is your print quality?i googled epson print head cleaning and there is a print head cleaning kit available.also,if you use yours as seldom as i use mine,print a page or two at least once a month.but for my money i would look into the head cleaning kit.cheers
