DVD+RW discs aren't recognized after firmware update

After updating the firmware for my DVD burner, I put in a DVD+RW disc and the computer and Nero said there was no disc in the drive, even though there was. So I tried another DVD+RW disc that hasn't been used before, and still it couldn't read the disc. Then I put in CD-Rs and DVD+Rs and my burner could read those perfectly fine.

Before the firmware update, my burner could read DVD+RW discs fine, but I kept on having burn errors with Nero, so I installed a firmware update for my burner and ever since, it doesn't recognize DVD+RW discs anymore.

I am running on a HP Media Center m7350n computer, and my DVD burner is HP DVD Writer 840b. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
