Hi, I have a Dell laptop with some battery trouble. The battery works - it runs and can be booted without AC power - but windows doesn't recognize that the battery is there. The power meter always says "battery not present" and "on AC power", even when it's unplugged (again, the battery obviously works). I assume this is relatively easy to fix?

ddp (mod) once remarked that contacts can be cleaned with an eraser...try this and see how you go. Does the battery get really hot to touch?
