Hey guys,

I didn't know where to put this thread so I started it here.

I've been having trouble with my network at home. i am trying to do a "remote desktop connection" but it keeps saying something like "cannot connect to remoter computer, it is timed out or access is denied". I don't know how accurate this say is but you get the gist of it.

I could use some help cause I don't know how to get it to work. I don't even know where to start

I'm also getting a "Limited or no connectivity" error constantly with my network connection.

Just to let you know, it is a wired network

Without knowing what OS you're having the problems with.. I'm going to scare up a thought and guess it's Vista that's having the networking issues.

No surprise there since I spend about 80% of my time at work with Vista's inane ability to properly connect to older and some newer home networks.

For limited or no connectivity.. first, hard reset your router. Remove all cables from it first, power it off by unplugging it. Wait 5 mins, then plug in the power then the rest of the cables.

In Vista.. get to your Network/Sharing center. Click on Manage Network Connections.. right click your LAN device, properties. Uncheck IPv6... close. Go to Start, type in services (Start Search bar).. find IP Helper service. Double click.. set the pull down menu to "disabled".. click the STOP button to end the service. Click 'apply' then OK.

Restart the system.

Sorry but I don't have Vista, I will never really use that OS unless I have to. I've heard so many bad things.

Anyway, I have XP and I have tried to power down the devices (by unplugging) and then wait a few minutes but that didn't work.

any other suggestions!
