Hello,
Kind of new to home audio so Ill do my best to describe things. Trying to get sound output from my pc to my toshiba regza hdtv. Heres a pic of the back panel.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...ackView&count=0

Video is currently connected by a DVI (connected to my pc graphics card) to HDMI cable.

I only have the integrated sound on my PC, no additional sound card. On the back of the pc there is the standard little red, green, and blue 3.5mm audio jacks.

Now after looking around I think the blue port is audio out.

So in my mind I could get a RCA to 3.5mm cable (if there is such a thing?) and connect that from the blue port on my computer to the PC/HDMI 1 (Audio) IN?

Please let me know if this is right, and where I can find the cable that would be needed. Looked on newegg but was pretty confusing. Thanks to anyone that can help :)

Probably........except you shouldn't need rca connectors. It seems to be 1/8" mini-jacks, on both ends. Go to Radio Shack and tell them you need a cable with 1/8" stereo mini-jacks on both ends, at whatever length you need. That should do it. Then you'll just need to put the tv on the right settings.
Good luck!

You will also need to change the setting on the tv menu so that it picks up the sound from that input. It's somthing like PC/HDMI audio in one of the menus.

PC Specs: CPU-C2D E8400, M/B-P5N-E SLI, RAM 4Gig OCZ Platinum rev2 ,VGA- Nvidia 8800GT 512MB, HDD- Hitachi Deskstar SATAII 1TB, 250Gig Maxtor IDE HDD.

What GPU are you using?
If you are using a later card then you should be able to pass the audio straight through to the TV through the HDMI interface.
It works fine on my system which is using an HD4850.
If you want a clean build and no mess of cables, then look at that as a solution possibly.

One other note, you need to change audio output from soundcard to the audio drivers on the video card.
Latest ATI drivers work a treat.

Not to jack a thread, but I had the exact same question. I will be getting this card:

The 9800GTX+ is also capable of audio over hdmi, but there are some driver issues (make sure you use one that is known to work if you get problems)

Are we talking official EVGA drivers or hacked drivers? Is there a list or something of said drivers?

Also what cards support audio over HDMI?

Thanks for the help BigDK

also, going from PC to (Stereo or TV), you need to have a floating ground filter between the two, or you may hear a low humming noise at low sound levels.

they sell those at radioshack too. tell them what you are doing, and they will know what you need. (hopefully...lol)

**Edit one more time..*

Here is what you need:

Official drivers are what you need, but there have been several releases from both ATI and Nvidia that have had issues with the audio over HDMI.
Same thing as usual applies, they may well make an update to fix one thing, and then mess something else up by mistake.

I tend to only use direct driver downloads from ATI and Nvidia, I never use the ones from the manufactures website such as EVGA or Asus (that's just the way I do things).

As for what cards support it, I don't have a full list.
The Nvidia 9800GTX+, GX260/280, also ATI 4800,4600, 3800, 3600 series cards do, just make sure that whatever card has HDMI support listed.
