Since I've built my own desktop I've been having a recurring (and annoying) problem while playing certain games, (Titan Quest, C&C Generals, WoW in example). I'll be playing these games and suddenly my screen goes black and my moniter says thats its going into standby mode, as if the video connection was lost.

Oddly enough when I play newer games (Crysis,World in Conflict, C&C 3, CoD 4 in example), this problem is non existant. I tought it might be overheating but the cards stay in between 38 and 48. Any ideas or solution would be greatly apreciated.

My system specs are as follows:
OS: Vista 32bit SP1
Mobo: Asus P5N-D
Core: Intel Core 2 Quad
Graphics: Nvidia 9600 GT (Dual)
RAM: 2 GB Corsair (x2)
PU: Corsair 750w
Sound: Xtreme Gamer XFi
Tower: Antec 900 (or was it 9000, cant remember)

Updated the driver today. Didn't happen for once (too skeptical to say it's gone yet but looks good so far). But I did notice that while Playing Titan Quest (patch 1.30), and playing music with windows media player the game freezes (it's already currupted 2 of my characters).
When I play without the music, it played fine all afternoon. Any ideas?(the game is kinda boring with the in game soundtrack, nothing beats destroying skeletons while rockin out, lol).

Aha - You have a Creative Sound card and Windows Vista - that's almost impossible to do without hideous instabilities. Try and look for some hacked Vista-supporting drivers, or swap the card for an Asus Xonar. Creative really dropped the ball on this one.

I've had my suspicions on that for a while now. I'll look around for drivers, if not i'll take a look at sound card. Thanks again, I'll update as i progress and hopefully put the kabash on this problem once and for all.

Sorry for double post, couldnt find edit message. In the event i cant find a driver that works (and while I wait for the new card to come in) If i were to remove the sound card and go back to onboard (Mobo sound *shivers*) think that'll help?

It's very likely, I'd recommend doing so immediately.
