Is there anyway I can knock of the history switch on vista? for example, if I look at a site today and dont go back to it for 3 weeks when I google it the page comes up saying 9 visits... last visited 28th August I have tried History options, etc to no avail, I apologise if this has been answered before but I just cant sort it.

Are you talking about removing the History in IE*?...or from somewhere in the PC (temp files, cookies, etc.)?

The story is... I google a site, go to it say Celtic Football club, I get a choice of hundreds of sites with Celtic on them, the ones i have previously visited are a lighter colour, and say last visited and date... also how many times, I would like to know how to disable this feature if possible, I am in no way a computer buff, so if you can keep it simple for me thanks

what did you mean by removing history in IE*?

I was assuming you used Internet Explorer *7,*8 etc.

Google remembering the sites you've been too should be stored in your cookies I think. Open Internet Explorer and go to Internet Options, it should look something like this:

Set History to "0" (zero days) and clear your History and your Cookies.

Click settings and then tick Never, then click OK then Apply. This should keep your browser from remembering where you've been.

I'm getting the images from google as I'm not in front of my Vista machine right now, but the layout should be similar.

What browser are you using? This shouldn't have anything to do with your mail client.

If clearing your cookies and history didn't solve the problem I really don't know what else to look for.

Viewing History

· Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x users can view their history files by clicking the "Tools" menu, "Internet Options", clicking the "Settings" button, and then clicking the "View Files" button.

Deleting History

· Microsoft Windows users running Microsoft Internet Explorer can delete their history files by clicking the "Tools" menu, "Internet Options", and clicking the "Delete Files" button. Users also have the option of automatically deleting files each time the close the browser window by clicking the "Advanced" tab and checking "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" under the "Security" section.

It's a fista "feature".. we call it spyware but whatever..

Failing that you need something like pc tuneup utilities 2008 which has tools to get rid of browser history and stuff.

You could also try deleting them manually from the following locations:

Cache: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low
Temp: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Temp\Low
Cookies: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low
History: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\History\Low

...where %userprofile% is your name or the name you've given your computer.

Thanks Hiteck,

thats the settings i already have, heres the story, the missus uses the internet to catch up with "Big Brother" I know its sad, but thats another story LOL, she types in big brother in the google search box, it opens up hundreds of threads in relation to this, the main one she uses is the first one, the official one, but when she clicks into it, it says 25 visits 2nd September ( the last day visited) This is what i am trying to delete, this yoke that says X amount of visits and date visited ... any Ideas?

you may need to delete the cookies so far already saved on your PC, you have changed the above settings and that will start from now although you may still have stored info from before,

Also this may be of help if its the google search box that needs deleting,
http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/bin/answer.py?answer=9271

Try the same, control panel then internet settings

1, Delete Browsing history then the second box will show,
2, Delete Temp files,
3, cookies,
4, then history,
5, then close,
6, Ok.

Lol, god knows then mate, deleting cookies and so on should stop this unless it is something your signing into which records your last sign in date so Im out of idea's.

Best of luck with it mate, I'll be lurking in and out to see if you get a result. :)

Are you sure your wife hasn't joined this BB site, the way u are an AD member and it's logging her visits and stuff?

Do other sites give you the same messages or just the BB site?
