dvdman101- could be I've always found the TY Thermal prinatbles ( Silver Shiny ) DVD media very Susceptable to showing fingerprints /smudges unless your extra careful & even then there's no guaranty that you won't see fingerprints on the label side !! But They do work well and that's what really counts !

I agree, I can handle the fingerprints knowing that when I put that disk in it will work.

This is why i only ever bought one cakebox of TY. Since then i've only ever bought 'Verbatim Taiyo Yuden' as they have a proper top finish ie a matte finish instead of that less than useful silver TY finish

creaky- Yeah But you get the best of both worlds with Your Semi-Mythical Verbatim/Taiyo Yudens so That's kinda like Cheating LOL! I did say semi-Mythical because I know they do exist but not on my side O' the Pond !!!!!!!!!!- Actually I like the Shiny Taiyo's but It's a cost thing I'm Cheap if I can get Retail ( Branded ) media of similar or as close as I can get to taiyo quality for a lower Price I buy Local/retail I only bought the taiyo Thermals once But I bought 600 so still using them ! But Given a choice I would Probably choose a Disc with a different label surface like you said creaky! Cheers
