How do you play Japanese (PS2) games online?

I have a collection of Japanese PS2 games I want to play online in Australia (preferrably on a Japanese server). These are original discs (not copies). I have my PS2 modded to play them but I am recieving an error code (402 I think) that has detected my modchip. How do I go online with these games? I am prepared to buy a Japanese PS3 if they a still backwards compatible,and it will allow me to go online. Can anyone help me with this? It would be GREATLY appreciated.
