460w PSU enough for my pc?

Hi folks iv recently been buidling a pc, it has a q6600,6gb ram,500gb hard drive.I just ordered a 460w psu and iv strated to worrie it might not be enough.I wont have a big graphics card cus i dont play games but ill be running things like illustrator,photoshop and general apps so will the psu be enough?

you should be ok, as long as you don't overclock and don't get a highend video card. The video card is what will dictate what size power supply you need. The newer cpu's even the quads run on less power than the some of the older cpu's.

When you decide what video card you will get look at the power requirements and get one that will work with your power supply. I have an ati 1650 pcie card and that runs on a 350 watt power supply, it is a decent low end card that does everything including playing the occasional game.

Your 460 psu will run all your applications you mention with no problems and have power to spare.

I'm going to go ahead and completely contradict jony... sorry!
460W of power will be ample for your system. HOWEVER, a 460W PSU may not be, unless it is a decent brand. Cheapo 460W units (brands like Coolmax, Raidmax, EZCool, Rosewill, Xion and others) will probably go bang before 100W, and I mean bang - they can ofte destroy your other components.

That *should* be alright, Gigabyte make decent products in other markets, but I've no idea what their PSUs are like I'm afraid.

Do think it would be better in the long run and safe side to get a bigger one?600w or waht would you recomend?

Doing some more research it looks like it's an FSP unit underneath, so you should be fine.
