Well I played it for almost an hour and no problems.
Remember this is patched also to use with ESR.
I also patched the First one with ESR disc patcher and play it just fine using ESR 9a.
If you have Swap Magic, then you can use the ESR.elf.

In order to play it with ESR you would need to patch it with ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a which is found in the ESR thread here:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/58441-esr-public-beta.html
To play it with Swap Magic, you most likely would have to rebuild it too work.
Also seeing you have Swap Magic, you can install the fmcb 1.6
You wouldn't have to swap disks anymore if you didn't want to.
The only thing is to play with ESR.elf, you need to patch the ISO images before burning them.
Read about it here:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/582...t-releases.html
Its guide is in that link- make sure to read that thoroughly if you do install.
Tutorial to install using Swap Magic: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

Thanks for the reply. What I've noticed is that it works fine when I lunch ESR from my USB thumb drive with uLaunchElf with SwapMagic. But when I start ESR from mc boot exploit I see the ESR splash screen and then nothing "black screen". I have a slim pstwo with the switches blocked for SwapMagic 3.6. Any Idea?

Are you using fmcb 1.6? Its default setup is using R2 on the controller to start ESR with Disc in PS2
I have better luck myself to load it that way than from the Sony Browser.

Thanks for your support Smokyrain "by the way". R2 seems to have fixed it, now it will run with ESR, but the game freezes after the scenematic, I guess it's my copy that is corrupted. Thanks again for the support, I now can play backups without SwapMagic wich is greate.

It is great to play backups without swapping..
Yeah all I can tell you is the way I burned it in above posts and the size of my ISO.
I haven't played it yet on my V14 but think it would be the same.

Would anyone be willing to walk me through the process and direct me to the needed programs? I would really appreciate it. I have a flip top with swap magic 3.8 I have DVD decryptor and iso buster. Once again Thanx in advance for any assistance rendered.

If you are meaning to play mercenaries 2 using the ESR elf, you can read the last few posts of this thread.
I sort of outlined between 2 tutorials on how to install fmcb 1.6 and ESR
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/696692
You would then not have to swap disks if you don't want too, but you still can use Swap Magic for those disks already done.
If you need more help let me know

thanx for the quick response, but at the risk of sounding like a total doof, I dont know what ESR elf or fmcb 1.6 is nor what it's used for. The most I've done is use decryptor, which was preaty straight forward then burn the iso. I did back up Mercenaries 1, by using some patch that some one made and following the tutorial, but even then I ended up with a few coasters. But I hope to learn with help form folks like you. So your help is greatly appreciated.

Thats no problem, and your questions are fine. We all need to learn somewhere.
Free MC Boot is an 'exploit' that allows a user to install it on official 8MB Sony MC's as well as 3rd party cards. A new hack puts Free McBoot right in your consoles main screen
From there you can launch any elf files.
ESR is an elf file that loads your backups that are patched with a disc patcher so no need for swapping discs.
Thats about the best I can explain it.
You can read more about it in topics on the freevast section of psx-scene forums.

Ok, so MC is memory card? So how do I get this free mc boot and them how do I get it on the card? Next how do I back up the game? Do I need something other than Decryptor? I beleive I had to use a different program with Merc 1 because the game was on a bigger disc? Plus I'm not to sure what patching is. I know that I used some "kit" that some one had made that did most of the work for you. So is there something like that for Merc 2 if not how do you do this manually? Thanx again for your time and patience.

Hi skorpeo, I might be able to help you there. Instead of going in the direction of using the Free MC boot exploit you should first try and play de game with your Swap Magic method the only problem with Mercenaries 2 is that, like you said, is too big for the TOC image that is used with the SwapMagic method. The only thing you need to do is to rebuild the image that you have created with DVDDecrypter and burn it again, it will work 100%. I use an application called ExPERT Ver1.05 http://konsolenprofis.de/downloads/download2.php?id=1286
Load the plugin Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso_v1.03.epi
Select the ISO you want to rebuild
Follow the steps 1 (extract LBA) 2 (extract files) 3 (rebuild files) and 4 (rebuild LBA) and Voilà a new ISO will have been created in the same folder as your original. Burn it at 4x and load it with SwapMagic. Hope I could be of assitance.
Like smokyrain said, if you still want to use the exploit afterwards, just follow the first posts it explains everything.

I think I'll go that route first, so let me see if I got this right, first I need to make an iso using dvd decryptor, then I use ExPERT Ver1.05 and follow the steps you numbered. I'm alittle confused about where and how the "Load the plugin shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso_v1.03.epi" comes in. Is this part of the download? Do I use this instead of a .exe file? I'm getting there though, thanxs again.

Download the file from the link I gave you. When you click the link the file download should start shortly, save the file someware on your hard disk. You'll then have a file named ExPERT_v1_05.rar use Winrar to extract the files on your hard disk, start ExPERT_V105.exe. Under Plugins select "shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso_v1.03.epi" open the iso file you created with DVDDecrypter and follow the steps icons 1,2,3,4 in that order, and you should have yourself a new rebuiled iso file that you can burn with DVDDecryter.
