hi guys, as per subject title. appreciate the gurus here could help me identify some prog that can be fixed to boost my pc's startup. tks much.

Norton is a hog. Use Antivir Free instead: it's light and has much better detection than Norton. They both have the same certifications, and Antivir maybe has more (eg: VB100, WestCoast Labs certified etc etc), and also look at av-comparatives.org

Also, defragmenting your hard drive, running a disk cleaner like CCleaner can help.

Norton does slow down the boot up process...I know! I had Norton NIS 2008 and 2007 installed and both versions were slowed down my boot up. As soon as I uninstalled I noticed the difference considerably.

I switched from Norton 2007 to Avast Home (free edition) and I saw about a 2 minute improvement in my bootup. Use the Norton Removal tool to completely uninstall Norton if you want to.
