Hi, Not sure if this is a Nero or a burner problem but since I am using Nero to burn I will post here and see what people think. I am using Nero Buring Rom V6.6 to burn an ISO data dvd using Verbatim DVD-R MCC 03RG20 on a Pioneer DVR-215DBK. It's a new drive I got from New Egg and just started burning a bunch of DVDs this past weekend and twice now I got an error "Burn process failed at 12x". It had firmware version 1.13 and I upgraded it to 1.18 but before I try again I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas as to why this might occur and if there are any clues from this log file extract below? Are there any settings I should change in Nero? I had burned at 12x instead of 8x for example from reading that modern burners work better now at higher speeds. Should I try 8x instead?

Of the same discs in the batch that have been successful that I used Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.16 to do Disc Quality tests using either the Samsung or Lite-On drive listed in the log above which all came out at 95%.

Thanks for any help and I have been reading on these forums on and off for years and think it's a great resource!

You could try using Imgburn, but these kinds of problems usually
turn out not to be the fault of Nero, but some issue with the drive/
firmware/media.

Have you tried some other media? Does it work?

are these virtual drives? if so disable them! sometimes Nero doesn't like or can't burn properly with virtual drives enabled..... don't ask me why.... just was told that! so disable the virtual drives.

this file comes from a Roxio or Sonic program! when having problems with Nero burning to disk it is best to uninstall Roxio/Sonic as they may conflict with Nero. Some computers don't have a problem with these programs and Nero but others do! So if you're having trouble uninstall Roxio/Sonic! Then do a registry clean up and defrag and reboot, try again!

rule about burning speeds: burn at half the rated disk speed (if the disk is an 8x disk then burn at 4x). Until you know your new drive and what it's capabilities are with certain disks, burn at half the speed rating!

Also it is much cheaper to buy the very best disk that is most recognized and has a great track record for successful burns: Taiyo Yuden! Verbatim is next best (in my humble opinion).

also: your version of Nero 6 may have bugs
Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a - this is the best version of Nero 6 - Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
reboot and you're good to go!
try these suggestions and see if it helps.
