Hi,
I have a few questions regarding which settings I should use in TMPGenc for encoding MPG2 files for DVD authoring later.
All my questions concern video quality only:
I've only created a few DVD's, all family stuff etc.
Most of it is pretty good quality, but some of the footage is a little pixelated, or slightly blotchy ( Mainly indoor shots in lower
light conditions )
I hope that somebody out there will understand the following questions through there experience and help me through this learning curve.
Thanks
1. Should I use VBR 2 pass or Constant Quality for best results I normally use 2 pas VBR 8k high, 4k low 6k average
2. Is it always better to use 10 bit DC component precision ?? Is there justification for using 8 or 9 bits for some types of
projects ??
3. by default TMPGenc sets my source video to be NON interlaced progressive.
Is this what I should use for captured AVI. All my capture footage is from either a Hi 8 digital camera through firwire or VHS through S video in on a OHCI capture card
4 The setting tell me that my source video ratio is 1:1 VGA Should I use this or should it be one of the 4:3 ratios, eg Pal 625 line 4:3 ( Oh yeah , I live in "PAL" land )
5. I sometime use the de interlace feature and choose 'Even field' to create my MPG2 files. I find that this helps to get rid of the horizontal bleeding lines that appear on a computer CRT screen when objects move accross the screen. Is this a good idea, or does it degrade the end product for the DVD player and TV.
6 Last question. Should I encode the final file as seperate audio and video streams ?
I normally choose to create the. mpg2 file extension. Would I be better off creating
seperate streams
Thanks
Any help, much appreciated
