Different Digital Cable Channel Numbers on Trutech and Sony

The Sony KDL-46W4000 I just bought doesn't tune in all the unscrambled digital HD channels that our cheapo Trutech does. Both have QAM tuners and get the signal straight from Comcast digital cable without a digital box.

The local NBC, ABC and CBS stations [analog channels 24, 27 and 29] have hi-def broadcasts that come in at 4.1, 7.1 and 9.1 respectively on the Trutech and our neighbor's digital TV. The Sony doesn't find them at all. The local PBS station (analog channel 26) has hi-def that comes in at 26.1 on the Trutech (and the neighbor's tv) but 103.11 on the Sony.

Sony said the problem is probably a weak signal. If that is really the problem [and I'm not sure I buy that explanation] I'd expect that to be a bigger problem for the $250 Trutech than the $2000 Sony.

Has anyone else observed similar behavior?
