Hi guys. I'm very computer illiterate, so please be patient.

My Lite-On DVD burner has been playing up, so I bought an LG to act as the 2nd burner. When I went to instal it, I found that the existing Lite - On burner is a IDE and the new LG burner a Stata (didn't know the difference beforehand, so wouldn't have bought it). I rang LG & told them that there was no where to connect the new burner onto the motherboard. I was told to buy a Stata correction card, which I did and installed it onto the mother board and installed the software which came with it.

For some reason, the new LG burner is not recognised by the computer & therefore won't work. When I boot up, the computer reads the stata card and says that the BIOS does not recognise anything attached to the stata card. The old burner is now working really well (go figure!!), but the new one doesn't work at all. I've checked and rechecked all the connections and they are in the right place. The new LG burnder does share the old Lite - On powersource.

If it's too hard, I'll just go out and buy another IDE burner so I can have a master and slave configuration, by any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on how to fix this problem!!!
