LG external dvd drive unrecognized

Hello all,

I recently purchased a lg supermulti 20x external dvd drive...it is plugged to my laptop...the problem is that my laptop dosent seem to recognize it and even if i insert dvds into the drive, nothing happens!?!...I am running windows vista.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated
