is verbatim dvd-r double layer a good brand to burn on and also you guys know where i can find them online for a decent price

Like Zoso said, the MII can be less reliable. Try to get the MIT's. If you wait for them to go on sale, they're not to expesnive.

The ones I use are Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) made in Singapore.

i used memorex dvd+r dl to backup a movie it will play on xbox360 but it will play the previews on my bose dvd player but it freezes up and wont play the actual movie

memorex DVD+R DL code out as Ritek which is ok media not as good as Verbatim though. try a slower burn speed 4x max or 2.4x and try booktyping to DVD-ROM
