So I'm switching out my Premiere Pro 2.0 (since I got a mac) and getting a new editor. I've tried Avid Xpress Pro on windows before and compared to Premiere pro it was faster (the program ran faster).

So I'm now looking at Media Composer or Final Cut Studio.

Media composer
-cheaper $300 for Students

Final Cut Studio
-pricier $699 for students

Also it seems as if Media composer comes with about as much software as Final cut studio
Motion 3 - Avid FX
Compressor/DVDstudio - Sonic DVD
The only thing that Final Cut Studio has that avid doesn't have is soundtrack pro 2. From what I heard Motion 3 isn't even that good and After Effects trumps it anyways. So the bundled apps don't really mean much to me anyways.

So I guess what I'm really asking is if final cut pro is worth the extra money at academic pricing.
