hi everyone,
im having an issue with my harddrive space, it keeps going up and down. it will jump up and down a few megs at a time (after refreshing the screen). so i dont think its vistas backup system because the space actually gets bigger at times too.
ive scanned my drive with kaspersky and im getting nothing, same results with spybot.
also going into my "C:" drive and highlighting all the folders (with hidden files being shown) i get about a 4GB difference between that and the free space that shows up under the drive icon in my computer

if anyone has any idea what might be causing this, id really like to hear about it

thanks

It can be many things, like your paging file increasing, backups, and all sorts of other stuff. Unless you can correctly pinpoint what is taking up the disk space, it might be hard to fix it. A disk explorer tool might help.

(and yes, all the folders in C:\ drive added up together might be something short of the used space which it shows, because of other hidden files needed for running. Also make sure you have the viewing of hidden files and system protected files enabled)

Best Regards :D

Look for windows.old directory. It contains a backup of XP if you installed Vista over it and can safely be deleted if you wont be going back.
