OK, so I've poked through the forums looking for my exact problem, no luck... I've got an R4, have been using it for a year, and it seems to work great. Only problem, I just downloaded a new batch of games, and can't seem to get half of them to boot. They all seem to be hanging when they check for a saved game. This problem is exactly the same as when new games have come out requiring a firmware update (I think the last one was to start supporting larger save files), but I checked here:

and it appears that the games I'm trying have been tested with the 1.18 kernel and work fine. Also, several games I downloaded at the same time, similar release dates, from the same site work fine as well. Each game gives a message about not being able to read the save file, uninsert/reinsert the game. I've tried the ARM7 patch, no go.

I'm using a Kingston 1G Micro, and I've tried reformatting it already. I'm not sure what else to do... Is this something endemic in R4s?

It wouldn't be a huge deal except I'm really interested in Lock's Quest. Other games I've had a problem with: Hell's Kitchen, Little League World Series, and Bangai-O Spirits (which worked fine in Japanese, but the US release doesn't seem to want to load).

Any other suggestions?
