I am looking for silver sided printable blank DVD- discs but which have a recordable side which is similar to that of a CD rom or commercial DVD rather than the mauve side which you get on most recordable DVD's. Are these available, if they are what company make them, and where can you buy them on the net?

No such dye-based DVD exists because the dye has to react to the wavelength of a ruby-red laser, and there is no way to change the color of the azo-cyanine, cyanine, or Oxonol dye. CD-Rs use different dyes that react to an infrared laser; and if those dyes are phthalocyanine-based, they can be colored enough to get rid of the greenish yellow cast they would ordinarily show. Cyanine-based CD-R dyes remain bluish or greenish in color too strong to be disguised.

The closest you can come to a recordable DVD that looks similar to the polycarbonate/aluminum/dye sandwich used for movies is a rewritable DVD+/-RW that has a silver/gray color because of its semi-metal alloy recording material.

Uhmm Maybe its because why would they produce a DVD-RW printable disc? Because you could only print on it once, so i suppose it defeats the object. OK don't worry i am a doughnut!!!Duuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Didn't we beat this topic to death a few months ago?
The only solution found was to get a commercial company to press and print your disks. I'm too lazy to search the posts but it turns out buying in bulk is cheaper than buying and burning, if you have lots of copies of the same video, and provided it isn't copywrited...
