Dell laptop problem please help?

i bought a laptop yesterday and installed happauge wintv for xp on my vista laptop and it froze while installing, i restarted the laptop and now have an error on a black screen about that there was some hardware problems. I am given only the option to start windows notmally or on safe mode. i have tried both but i am still unable to log on(it just freezes) can comeone help me please

Have you tried to choose last known good config, try that and see what happens

how do you start last known config if i can't log on?

I thought u can get the start-up menu press F8 when the computer is booting up and then a menu should come up and then one of the options is last known good config.

i have contacted dell, and they are sending and engineer over to replace the hard drive. Its a bit stupid that within 2 days of getting the laptop i need a hard drive

This is one off the reasons i would not touch a Dell even ifi was paid to try their new products.
