ok you know how the bios is located on a chip near the bottom of the board, do you think if you remove that chip, and you put a new one from a better motherboard, will it be able to work?

just curious

each bios is program for each level of board & for different manufacturers of boards. most boards' bios chip is soldered to the motherboard so how do you propose to remove it like using a screw driver as a former co-worker did back in 85-86? i know how but do you?

wrong as there is 2 types of packages for bios chips, rectangular & square. the rectangular are the older ones so are either socketed or soldered to the motherboard. the squares are newer but can be socketed but most of the time are soldered to the board to save money. the rectangular chips are thru hole chips whereas the the squares are surface mounted.

wow you got me there but lets say if they were fully compatible as in terms of insertion, would the motherboard read the chip and give me some extra features the old chip had

ie overclocking potential and cpu readings?

if the 2 boards where of the same family but 1 was the deluxe version & the other one a base version then it might work but not certain.
