What to watch for while using 'Free Download Manager' to dl torrents

Hi,
as a new member, I've been reading - and trying to follow as well as I can - information about being (mostly) secure downloading torrent files. I had been recommended to use uTorrent but couldn't get a port to work with it using my laptop which works wirelessly from the modem (if that makes a difference).

I found however that 'Free Download Manager' is able to download my first torrent files with success and I wondered:

1) Has anyone else used this program to dl torrent files?
2) Are there any things I need to watch for in using this program in downloading torrent files?
3) What security measures do I need to establish in using this program? (I'm been pleased to be able to dl youtube videos etc with this as well)
