Sorry. Forgot to mention that it happens in approx.25% of discs and occurs at the 3/4 point or later in a movie. Always near the end. USe Clone DVD and Anydvd. Transcoded size never exceeds 4400MB. Burnt with Nero. Thanks in advance.

1. Nope, have not had any similar issues. How old is your burner?
2. Did you know there's is an edit post button so you don't have to post in a sequential manner?

Some assembly required.

It's the little notepad in upper right hand corner of your post. :)

Clean the laser lens real nice and try another one. It sounds more like a burner issue than a media issue.

Some assembly required.

lindnerwm - Least hazardous ( To the drive ) way to clean your burner is a couple of good quick Blast of Canned Air ( The stuff photographers use to blow dust off cameras& lenses ect... Available at most office supply stores walmarts ect... Open your drive Tray like you would to put in a dic then insert the nozzle into the opening that your tray resides in when operating and spray a few quick burst while gently moving the nozzle around ! The only other way I know are the dvd/CD Disc typle cleaners that you insert and play according to the directions ! Though misuse or overuse of these could misalign your burners laser possibly ? I have used one of these disk to clean My CD player in my truck which i though had crapped out ! It took a couple of cycles but it Worked . OTherwise barring those two options you could bring it to a shop & have then check it out ?Though that would most likely cost more than a new new drive ? IN any case I wish you luck My friend !!!

what is the offical media code ID on those TY's ? The code you list doesn't seen valid for 8x TY's. Are these the premium or valueline?

You can get the code from nero under disc quality test. It should be TG02 or TG03.

being from supermediastore.com you can bet you're life they aren't fakes. I just got a batch of the TY-GO2s DVD-R and there fine my bet is your burner is shot! replace it, good ODDs only run 30.00 tops. Pioneer,Lite-On and Samsung are you're best choice

These are fine discs that should work well in burners old and new. That said, Lite-ons don't burn -R media nearly as well as other burners. My Pioneer 115D burns these discs at 12X with resultant Disc Quality scan scores of 98.

Really? Post a scan. Here's a TYG02 burned at 12X (I guess I forgot the so called rule of half speed burning) and scanned in my BenQ.

Here's a bad one, also burned at 12X ;)

I agree with ZoSo, as all I use are TYG02 and of late mostly Lite On burners. Here are some scans.

Did you burn them at 4X? If so that's hardly a valid comparison. Burn them at 12X in the Lite-on and post a scan.

I didn't realize that you were talking about overburning as a valid comparison or as the mark of whether or not a Lite-On would burn those disks reliably. And as such you would need to scan those with a lite-on at 4x to properly compare with mine and ZoSo's scans as the BenQ scores differently.

Problem appears to have been the lens. Cleaned with a blast of compressed air and that DVD with the little brush/whiskers. So far, so good. Thanks again.
