Nero Vision 5: Nero SmartEncoding got dumb suddenly

I've been authoring DVDs with Nero Vision 5 with the Nero SmartEncoding figure always around 98%-100% for video (depending on the amount of chaptering) and 100% for audio. All of a sudden, with the same settings, hardware, software version, and even with the very same files, the SmartEncoding figures have gone to 0% for both video and audio. Nero Vision is now completely re-encoding my videos just to put them on DVD.

Anybody have any ideas how to correct this? A couple of re-installs didn't do the trick (yes, General Clean Tool was used, and anti-virus was off).
