okay, first off, today i got a lovely visit from mr. blue screen 'o death.
formatted, reinstalled windows xp and it's service pack 2, and now the computer is slow and sluggish. heck, even scrolling through a web page is choppy and sluggish. what can i do to fix this?? my computer was lightning fast as early as this morning.
oh, and i also do not have the original disks that came with my computer to install audio drivers. i dont even know what kind of card it is, or if its built onto the motherboard or not. how do i find out what driver to download and install??

Yeah, Sounds like you havent installed the correct drivers. :)
Find the make and model of your computer, go to that particular manafacturers website. Go to support tab, go to drivers and download everything for your particular comp.

Long time no see Lecsiy... :)
The poor performance is graphics driver related. For audio drivers, you need to visit your motherboard manufacturer's website.

Install the graphics driver, as we said.
Find out what graphics card you have, and then install the appropriate driver for it.

It should be written on a small sticker on the card.

a driver is installed when windows is loaded 1st time or you'll not see anything at all. even win98 loads a generic driver if it doen't know what the card actually needs.

hey everyone. im having a bit of trouble with this again. i AGAIN had to perform a clean install of windows XP, now i've saved the driver from last time on a DVD backup. upon installing and rebooting, i find the colors SEVERELY distorted, so naturally i go to the display settings and it wont let me switch the settings, there's only one setting: "800 by 600 pixels" at "Lowest (4 bit)"
what am i doing wrong?? please help me

That's set to default when your graphics driver has malfunctioned or a compatibility issue has occurred. Sometimes a reboot does the trick, if not you need to reinstall the driver.
