I purchesed DVD X Copy and installed it on one computer (my laptop). When a car ran over my lab top, I bought a new desk top and tryed to install it on there but it say's somthing like "this ID and Password has been used the maxum number of 7 times".

I only used it 1 time...i'm guessing that somone computer guru worked his magic and I got the short end of the stick...

I still have the software...but it won't work. What can I do?

Only good thing to do with that copy is delete it. Use dvdfab hd decrypter, as it's free and still being updated.

as far as using dvdfab hd decrypter...how do i download it?

i'm just slightly more compatint than "computer illiterate"

again thanks for your reply and i would be greatfull for any further information.

rtm has the right idea.. look for all the freeware rippers and burners.

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

http://www.imgburn.com/

now as for vobblanker and ifoedit.. errrm.. they are out there... for some reason my brain is in cabbage mode today.

From what I read, DVD X Copy is not worth the disk it comes on. It could only handle some encryption when it came out, and the newer encryptions since then...it can't even crack them.

Click on this link for 'all your burning and ripping needs'. I call this a 'one stop shop'.

Good advice given here, especially on picking up a good freeware ripper.

DvdFab Hd Decrypter is it.

Dvd X Copy is most certainly not! Happy burning.

Amen Cardinal !!

A solution to replace dvdxcopy

1) decrypt to HDD with dvdfab HD (free version)
2) process files (all) with fixvts
3) shrink files with dvd shrink, output as iso/image to HDD
4) burn iso/image file with IMgburn

all programs are free

Imgburn, free from
www.imgburn.com

fixvts,m free from
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...ools/fixvts.cfm

dvdfabHD free from
www.dvdfab.com

shrink you already have

and a guide to use all the programs

As I was downloading dvdfab hd decrypter (from http://dvdfab.com/free.htm )and my McAfee VirusScan gave me a pop up window saying:

Trojan Found and cleaned

The File C:\Program Files\DVDFab 5\is-7C93H.tmp was infected by the Generic Downloader.x trojan and has been deleted to complete the clean process.

Is this a "trojan Horse" that i've heard so much about?

In the spirit of being safe, not sorry, i did not continue with the download.

any advice?

There was a thread about this a while ago about the false flag from McAffe. The program is safe as literally thousands of us have d/l from dvdfab.com.

As i don't use McAfee, i can't offer any more than this:

I've been a happy Dvdfab user (downloaded from their site) for a while now.

Settings in McAfee may be a little too sensitive.

using dvdfab to rip and imgburn to burn...my disc (when put in my DVD player) read "error" despite that fact that when imgburn finished writing the disk it said "burn sucsessfull".

The free version of dvdfab does not include a built in burn engine. The trial version and the paid gold/platinum versions do have a vso burn engine.

Their burn engine is quite good, but imgburn is the best burn program hands down IMHO!!

as posted above dvdfab decrypter to rip the movie dvd shrink to transcode the ripped file then imgburn to burn

remember to use good blank media like Taiyo Yuden,Verbatim or Sony burning at 6x to 8x max

the payware stuff (clonedvd + anydvd or dvdfab platinum) could be a good option for you to since it pretty much a few clicks and everything is done for you. read this thread also

good day to all of you kind people for your knowlage and time...

I am now throuly frustrated (and a bad speller).

I have tryed downloading 3 different programs. tryed to use them together to come up with one end result; and let me tell you it isn't working.

i firt try and rip with DVDfab. then i try and and use DVD shrink to transcode and last tryed to use imgburn to burn. and i end up wasting DVD-R disk's. when i put them in my DVD player i get a disk read error.

i'm trying so hard to be computer litorate...i'm begining to think it might be worth it to by the latest verson of nero 8.

does anyone just have a code to make my lagitamit verson of DVD X copy to work?

I have quite the collection gathered from over the years. i have a couple hundred dvd's. my wife just started a day care at our house and the kids have recintly discoverd my dvds and a few of the toddalers have through'n around and scrached quite a few of me dvd's.

i have made it my mission to back up all me dvd and only keep my copys in my living room...that way if the copys get scratched, i still have my origanals.

Specifics help very much when trying to address your problems. Please answer rtm27's question so it is easier to help you.

Please don't do that, as your problems will do nothing but get worse.IMHO.

Did you receive any errors during your backup process? If things appeared to be smooth sailing all the way until you tried to play the disk then it could be a media problem (as stated previously high quality media is a must) or it could be a problem with your stand alone player. Please be as specific as possible on your attempt.

Some of the scratches on the disks can cause bad burns. Please do clean the disks as best as you can.

sorry i wasn't as specific as i should have been.

i tryed to make a back up of "field of dreams".

at first i got a message:

DVDFab encounters a reading error (may be caused by copy protection) which can be removed by using pathplayer, the technology we employed in DVDFab. please not when pathplayer is enabled, opening a dvd may take up to several minutes. would you like to restart dvdfab to enable pathplayer for this dvd?

i chose to restart.
