Panasonic PVR - Simplest method for DivX onto HDD

Hi,

First post to Afterdawn so I hope I have the right forum. =)

I own a Panasonic EX-77 and would like to find the simplest way to get Divx movies from my PC onto the PVR. Unfortunately the unit doesn't allow this and will only transfer unprotected DVD->HDD. I can only think of a couple of ways to achieve this and wonder if anybody has tried something similar.

1) Firmware change - Doesn't look like theres any available
2) Re-encode - Quick(?) encode to another format
3) Header magic - Any chance we could change the files header info to MPEG2 and pray the PVR allows the file to transfer and then decodes.
4) New Unit - Buy a unit that allows this.

Any help appreciated
