can't seem to figure out what software will copy DVD-A discs.

This is not a storebought DVD-A, it's one that was authored by a friend with live, copyright-free music @ 24/48

I don't have discwelder - i have DVD XCopy Xpress and DVD Decrypter... Could upgrade to DVD XCopy Platinum if i need to or download any other shareware as needed.

Being hard to copy is the whole point about DVD-A.

As far as I know there's no software sollution for ripping DVD-A so far. Probably the best thing you can do is using some player 'digital out -> soundcard digital in + recording software' sollution. You might want to have a look at some old threads here - maybe there's helpful information I've missed.

I was under the impression that amateur-authored DVD-A's don't have the copy protection of pro-authored ones. guess i just need to try all of the major software and see if anything works.

If the source disc is a DVD-R then you should try DVDDecrypter with Mode= ISO Read (copies the whole disc in an ISO-Image to your harddisk) and then Mode= ISO Write and burn the image to a DVD-R. Works fine with Playstation2 DVDs, why not with DVD-Audio.

Your problem is that all the ripping software recognises VOB files, and not AOB files.
Currently, there is no way to copy unl;ess you have disc Welder & 2 drives - 1 burner & 1 ROM.
I don't know if Steel or Bronze versions will copy, my chrome will.
The CP thing with DVD-A is either CPPM on manufactured discs, or it may also be MLP encoded. This is optional unless authoring 24/96 24/88.2 surround, then it is compulsory or you exceed the bitrate.

Best I can think of is to output the audio streams from the analogue out on your DVD player and record that. You cannot do this digitally. There is no software available, and for MLP streams probably never will be.

Are you certain it is true DVD-A?
What is the folder structure, and what files are in them please?
