Did you have to disconnect a power cable to the motherboard that goes in somewhere near the cpu? Did you remember to put that back in? I'm not talking about the wide main power cable to the motherboard, it's a smaller one.

If that's not the case, turn it all off and take the fan off and reseat it properly, it may not have a proper connection to the cpu in which case the cpu would be overheating and thermally shutting down. if you see the pins are bent you can try to straighten then with some small pliers but if you break them that's your responsibility. If the fan is running though, the only pins that you really need should be ok, the other one just controls the speed, without that it will run at maximum which should be fine anyway so either your cpu is overheating due to an improper connection with the heatsink on the fan and is possibly dead (I take it you re-applied thermal compound?) or the other power cable to the cpu is disconnected as I mentioned above.

i dont know what you are telling me, but this is what ive learned the hard way after we have already broke the processors pins:
1 dont force it in
2 lift the little bar to loosen whatever it is
3 wiggle the heatsink till it comes off

so im still learning computer parts as you can tell...

You have just been through the class of the computer school of hard knocks. You certainly aren't the first and won't be the last person to do that. We have ALL been there.

You won't make that mistake again.

Life is good!
