I have been using Nero with NeroVision Express 3 for about 2 years now with absolutely no problems and today after I'd finished burning a DVD+R I put in another disc to finish what I was working on and when I tried to pull up an .avi Video file I got a message that said "Unable to insert..." with the file extension name and an upgrade box popped up.
I've never had any problems burning .avi files before, at least 1/4 or 1/2 of my files are .avi and I wasn't using a trial version, like I said I've had the same version of Nero for almost 2 years now.
I downloaded the upgrade to try and solve my problem, which consisted of 5 seperate programs but nothing for NeroVision Express, not that I've been able to find in any of my folders anyway. The versions that were installed are:
This upgraded me to Nero Express 6, installed Nero ShowTime and updated versions of other Nero programs I already had installed.
I tried to burn the .avi files again with NeroVision Express 3 and it gave me the same "Unable to Insert..." message but this time without the upgrade box.
I then tried to burn those files using Nero Express instead of NVE 3 and it gave me this message:
"One or more files could not be added to a compilation.
The following files may not reside in the VIDEO_TS directory of a DVD-Video compilation. Only compliant DVD-Video files
VIDEO_TS.IFO,
VIDEO_TS.VOB,
VIDEO_TS.BUP,
VTS_nn_0.IFO,
VTS_nn_0.VOB,
VTS_nn_0.BUP and
VTS_nn_m.VOB
can be added to the VIDEO_TS folder. Please add files from a completed DVD-Video title or use an authoring software like NeroVision Express to create DVD-Video files from standard video files such as *.avi and *.mpg.
The file does not match the current file filter."
I know all of these questions may have a fairly simple answer and may make me seem like an idiot, but I've never had a problem with any Nero program before.
Also, since I wasn't working with a trial program and I had just created a disc using the exact same group of files not even 5 minutes earlier, I don't understand why all of a sudden it said I needed an upgrade, then ended up not even upgrading my NeroVision at all, and now WILL NOT let me add .avi files no matter what I use.
Normally I'd just download another program to convert the files, but since NVE 3 was converting them before I don't know if I need to delete certain programs I already have AND download something to convert the video files as well or if I need to buy a newer version of Nero.
I haven't tried out Nero 8, so I don't know if I'll have to pay to download that then end up having to get something else to convert my files. I don't want to spend the cash if there's an easier solution.
I appreciate any suggestions, solutions, or really any advice at all.
I apologize for the length of this thread, thanks in advance!!!
