I have a dvd player/recorder that freezes when playing dvds what can I do to try and correct this problem.

Can you give us more info to work with as specific examples ?
The BPI Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The RIAA Soundexchange Are: SONY, UNIVERSAL, WARNER GROUP, EMI.
The IFPI Are: The same anti consumer lot as listed above!

sure while watching a movie the dvd will freeze I dont know why, you can out in a brand new dvd and it will lock up everytime almost like a ps3 freeze. It just stays paused basically, its a toshiba dvd recorder / player / vcr and the vcr part works but even when burning, it will lock up, I hope this helps, oh and it can happen within 5 mins or 30 mins

still under warranty ? If so, may need to take it in for repair

nope its not I tried to register it like I got it a month ago but everyone wants a receipt and well the date is past the warranty time.

that blows :-( any way would a dirty lens be a possible cause, I mean it couldnt hurt to clean it right.
