Hey, i need two burners and very specific needs:
1. First burner has to have outstanding error correction for reading scratched dvds, I don't care about the speed, just accuracy and overall quality.
2. Second drive has to be the best at writing on TayoYuden DVD-R media. Mainly 8x DVD-R maybe 16x DVD+R. That's all I use, also, it has to be ok with double layer Verbatim media as i use it once in a while.

Suggestions welcome, and if needed, please redirect me to an appropriate thread.

republika the Pioneer OODs would be the best choice, Lite-Ons aren't great at reading scratched DVDs and the Pioneer OODs work great with Taiyo Yuden media thats all i use also with great success.

I prefer Liteons because Imgburn will allow for booktyping, whereas Pioneers(a very fine burner) is not supported by Imgburn for the booktyping/bitsetting

you can get hacked firmware to booktype with the Pioneer OODs BUT since the OP is using the DVD dash R format he will not need to booktype, thats all i use also the DVD dash Rs

The best drives for reading damaged disks I have found are the cheap and nasty samsungs.

They are pretty good burners too, but I wouldn't know about using imgburn with them because I haven't.

I would say a pioneer for burning (only because the nec ND-3550 is scarce and expensive now) and a cheap samsung for reading.
