Hi everyone i have an HP pavilion with windows XP SP2, 1GB ram. it has been work fine until last night. The power went off around five something in the morning, and of course i was sleep. I woke up because of the beeping sound of the battery i started to shutdown and halfway the battery ran out. So now that i got power back and my computer doesn't want to turn back on; the little green light at the back, on the power supply its blinking instead of been solid. Does this mean that i have to buy a new power supply?

can anyone help me?

thank you

take the power lead out the back of the laptop and see if the power supply light stays on on
if it does send the lappy in for repair

You have a battery backup on the computer?
First try to unplug the power cord from the computer and switch the red 110/220v adapter from whichever side its on to the opposite side. Then switch it back to whichever side it was originally on. If there is a switch on your power supply switch it from on to off back to on. Then try to turn on the computer. Try to also plug it in directly to the wall and not through the battery backup.

If none of that works:
Usually battery backups, surge protectors, etc. have a warranty for the hardware. Call the company and tell them that the battery backup failed resulting in a failure of the computer. They might be able to help you.
