I have spent some time reading other posts etc and have got to a stalemate.
Basically I am trying to transfer files/TV recordings from my pvr to my laptop. I have purchased a usb to usb cable. (It has a square usb connection on one end and a normal usb connection on the other).
I then go to HDD mode change, and enter my password. This changes the pvr box to >PC. I think I am right in saying that a new hard drive should appear on my pc (the pvr hard drive) and I then just copy files back and forward between the pc and pvr box?
Assuming this is all correct, I am not getting any hard drive showing on my pc. Do I need some software or am I doing something wrong?

Hi
I seem to recognise you post as it being a Starview PVR, when you have set up the transfer to PC try switching the Starview off then back on again, it should then be recognised by the PC.

Only have a desktop with xp, so have taken the hard drive out of the PVR, and connected it to that, via an external caddy. I have copied the recordings on to the desktop and copied them over to my laptop.
(will try to find someone with a laptop with xp)!
Now that I have the files what do I do with them as they won't play?
I guess I have to convert them? If so, what program should I use to do this?

Thanks.

Hi
The 'Search Messages' box at the top of the page is always VERY useful.

Here is one I searched for, and found for you.

Managed to convert pvr files using dvd santa.

Anyone had any luck transfering recordings from your pvr to your VISTA laptop, using usb to usb cable? (can't face doing as described above each time I want to copy file to my laptop)!

Thanks.
