Hello all,
My Dvd player on my laptop (Toshiba A45 Sat) has stop playing any dvd's or cd's . I use it often to backup my orig dvd's and copying my articles on cd's . When I put in a disk my light on the player (on the right side of laptp)will begin to blink a few times. But suddenly it will stop and run no more. I have tried cutting off the computer and leaving the disk in the player, but it still does the same exact thing. Any advice??

What happens when you try to play a CD using a software like WMP or VLC? Sounds like your autorun is turned off which is a good thing.

I don't even know what those things are. I apoligize for my ignorance. When I copy to the cd's I use the factory installed writer software that came with the comp. I use Any and Clone to copy Dvd's. Hope this helpes. TY

Open Windows Media Player and try to play the CD.
This should have been posted in the newbie forum instead of the advanced.

Did Windows Media Player see the CD?

No it acts as if I haven't put in a disk at all. Says that the drive is empty.

So your drive cannot read the discs that it burned. What brand of discs are you using? What speed did you burn at? Sorry my fault. Windows media player will only play video or music. It will not open articles.

Double click on My Computer.
Then double click on the drive that has the disc.

When you went into My Computer and clicked on the drive, could you at least see the files?

It would seem that the drive on this 4 year old laptop has bit the dust. Have you tried giving the laser lens a good cleaning?
